Chrzanów is connected with these two centres by the A4 motorway (there are as many as 3 junctions) and the national road no. 79. The town has a convenient connection with the airports in Cracow-Balice (Kraków Airport) and Katowice-Pyrzowice (Katowice Airport) which are located 20 and 45 minutes by car respectively. Two important railway lines also run through the borough: the modernised line no. 133 connecting Cracow with Dąbrowa Górnicza and the, at present undergoing reconstruction, line no. 93 which connects Trzebinia with Zebrzydowice.

Tourism

Vivid history, monuments, picturesque nooks vast forest areas, numerous cultural and sports events are the advantages of Chrzanów borough, located on the border of Lesser Poland and Silesia. Chrzanów is a town with a centuries-old history, founded under the Magdeburg Law in the Middle Ages. To this date, the original spatial layout of the Old Town (around the Market Square) has remained unchanged, along with the characteristic St. Nicholas’ Church. St. Nicholas is also the patron of the town. At the beginning of its existence, Chrzanów was a centre where a customs chamber was located. In the following centuries it became a craftsmen and merchant town. For centuries, it was a multicultural place. It is worth mentioning that between 1815 and 1846 it was an essential part of the Republic of Cracow. At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries it became an industrial town, where, among others, the First Locomotive Factory in Poland “Fablok” had its headquarters.

Chrzanów provides many possibilities for active recreation. Forest areas, covering 1/3 of the commune, are perfect for hiking and cycling trips. From one side, the town is surrounded by picturesque quarry hills and from the other site- by the Chrzanów Valley full of backwaters. Suburban villages are full of charming nooks. From the slopes of Pogorzyce and Płaza hills there stretches a stunning view of the Vistula valley and the panoramas of the Beskidy and Tatry mountains. The borough is also an excellent base for exploring the region’s attractions – within several dozen minutes by car you can reache.g. Cracow, Katowice, Bielsko, Żywiec or Wadowice.

Chrzanów is a place where many unique cultural events are taking place, addressed to a broad group of recipients. Exhibitions, lectures, music and folklore reviews, authors’ meetings, concerts, competitions, workshops, film shows and outdoor events – everyone will find something for themselves. The cultural offer is constantly being enlarged.

Business/investment zone

Extensive investment opportunities, transportation accessibility, high quality of the labour market, favourable social climate make Chrzanów a friendly, attractive, and competitive environment for business development.

Chrzanów is changing very intensively. Alongside public investments, private investors are also very active. Companies such as Dan Cake, Valeo Lightning, Swisspor and many others do not only run their businesses here – in the last years these 3 entities among others have also made strategic decisions on further development of their units in Chrzanów. In total they will invest about PLN 100,000,000 to upbuild their facilities, modernize and extend their production capacity. Moreover – the fact of planning to move their research centres to Chrzanów is a clear sign that the environment in which they are located is very beneficial for them and that they associate their future with it. The previously mentioned companies are not the only ones who have chosen Chrzanów as a place with a considerable potential for development. Life is coming back to the former PFL Fablok Inc plant and its neighbouring areas. Hydro Extrusions, an international aluminium processing company, has been functioning there for years. Not long ago, the production halls of Fablok were bought and smaller entities settled in the surroundings, including an innovative Polish company – Dynamic Technology LLC – the creator of high-class automotive, household and utility chemicals under the NanoMax brand.

At the same time, developer housing estates are being built, the municipality is preparing its investments in rental housing and council houses. Single-family housing is also on the rise.

The attractiveness of the town as a good place to live and invest in is continuously improving. The next significant step on this path will be the completion of the biggest in decades railway investment programme in Chrzanów, i.e. the modernisation of the railway line no. 93. Within its scope, the railway flyovers over Krakowska st., 29 Listopada st., Kadłubek st. and Zbożowa st. are being rebuilt. This task, together with municipal road investments between Krakowska and 29 Listopada streets, will definitely improve the quality, safety and comfort of travel in Chrzanów. Thanks to the reconstruction of the tracks, railway stops and contact system, the town will also gain a smooth and fast railway connection with Cracow, Oświęcim, Krzeszowice and Zabierzów.

The town focuses on three priorities:

  • an investment zone on the A4 and gaining new investors,
  • support for housing and single-family housing,
  • ecology.

According to the already existing plan, approx. 100 ha are intended for production facilities, warehouses, and storages, as well as production and service objects. The zone will ultimately cover an area of approx. 280 ha. Within the bounds of the draft plan, areas will be designated with a permit for the location of devices generating energy from renewable sources in excess of 100 kW. The strategic assumption of the plan is to designate part of the area for the construction of a Waste Thermal Processing Facility “ekospalarnia”, which will meet the ecological and energy needs of the municipality and neighbouring towns. It is also intended to develop the transport system serving the newly created operational areas. Due to the fact, that the borough is currently in the process of enlarging the zone it can still implement solutions dedicated to a particular investor.

Chrzanów is a pervious town and supports all companies, irrespective of their industry or specialization. The municipality cares about all new investments that are economically stimulating for it, with the reservation that due to the environmental protection being a priority for the municipality, it is essential that it is an activity that takes it into consideration. In accordance with the provisions of the strategy, the municipality’s priority is to create conditions for creative businesses engaged in innovative activities, therefore the city particularly seeks representatives of such sectors as “life science” or companies using the GOZ model. Because of the existence of automotive companies already in the city, the municipality would like to host more companies from this sector, and given its cooperation with the European Investment Bank, the municipality is also interested in establishing contacts with investors operating in the sustainable housing sector.
